Our Story
Mind Your Head Counseling, LLC (MYHC) is owned and operated by Madison Schultz, LPC. Wanting to take a more direct and personal approach in her clinical work, Madison decided to open MYHC after working in various mental healthcare facilities over the years. With these years of experience in her back pocket, she knew she wanted to open a trauma-informed practice focused on individualized care.
Even before getting into grad school at Loyola, Madison had an insatiable appetite for learning about the human mind and behavior. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology at The University of New Orleans in 2013 then quickly found a job working for a Neuropsychological practice administering psychological tests for a variety of cases. This job only fueled her passion for psychology, so she decided to apply to Loyola New Orleans’ Clinical Mental Health Counseling program and felt right at home. She graduated with her Masters degree in 2017 and got a job at the same place she completed her internship which was a local addiction rehabilitation facility. This was where Madison found her passion for many different areas of clinical work including individual adults, family, couples, and group. After a few years, it was time for a change and she found her way back to her high school alma mater, Mount Carmel Academy. Working as a school counselor gave Madison some insight into a younger population and a whole new outlook on the challenges that young people often face.
This invaluable experience was one of the driving factors in her decision to open her practice. She saw how there was such a shortage of available therapists after COVID lockdown and wanted to make a small difference in making that process a little easier. She continues to help many adult clients navigate anxiety, ADHD, and relationship issues.

“One step at a time, mind your head.”

Our Approach
In today’s world, it is tough to find the time to “mind your head” and sometimes it can feel overwhelming to begin therapy. We are here to help! Whether a teen client or adult client, you will be met with acceptance, compassion and trauma-informed care.
We view therapy as a collaborative effort between client and therapist. We consistently collaborate with our clients on their own treatment and encourage open, honest communication to ensure each client is receiving the best care possible.
We use an integrative approach with all of our clients. This means we utilize different modalities, exercises and techniques based on our clients’ needs and do not operate from one, firm, standardized method of treatment.
